Leaner. Greener. Cleaner. (Update 2.0)

So what better choice for the timing of our next update than Earth Day! Here in Raleigh, NC there’s a warm breeze in the air and the flowers are in bloom. This is the time of year when a young man’s thoughts turn to Green Marketing. One of our clients who we are working with as part of our Tag! You’re Green initiative is Progressive Plumbing & Piping. General Manager Chad Woodall came up with a list of what they’re doing to make Green go viral in the Triangle.

1. Progressive has instituted a program of office recycling and has taken the additional step of refilling their printer cartridges to avoid creating more waste. The facility that Progressive uses is equipped with motion sensor lights to cut down on needless energy use while reducing their monthly electrical bill. To improve the overall quality of life for their office employees Progressive has introduced special air cleansing plants to counteract potential toxins in their environment.

2. An operational change that Progressive instituted recently involves restricting their service technicians to certain zip codes. This practice reduces vehicle emissions by minimizing the miles driven between projects by each of their service vehicles.

3.  Another change that Progressive has committed to is a greater focus on internet marketing in the coming year. This move is deemed Green due to the low impact on the environment web-based promotions offer. There’s low waste and minimal emissions when compared with other traditional media marketing.

4. Given the Raleigh area’s recent problems with water conservation and drought these Raleigh plumbers have instituted an interesting custom solution to their water needs. On the commercial side of Progressive they offer a service called hydrostatic drain cleaning that requires that they use nearly 500 gallons of water a day. To combat this need they built a rain collector that transfers run-off from their roof into a large 600 gallon tank inside their facility.

5. To make sure the Tag! You’re Green initiative doesn’t stop with them Progressive will be promoting some of their Green Plumbing services aggressively this month. These items include low flow showers and faucets, low-flush toilets and simple pipe insulation. They’re also giving away an eco-friendly tankless water heater later this summer. Leaner. Greener. Cleaner. (Update 1.0)

I apologize to everyone for the lateness of this blog entry. It’s been a wild week or so here at Click Optimize. Our Leaner. Greener. Cleaner. program is humming along nicely. Its purpose is to help curb climate change here in our office and through positive interactions with our clients.

Leaner- So far we’ve instituted our new policies of powering down computers at night, using natural light as much as possible and cooling the office with some clean Spring air (invigorating!). We’ve also instituted a “ReUse” pile of paper next to our printer. Next month we’ll discuss transitioning as much as possible to a paperless environment.

Greener- We purchased our first carbon offset from TerraPass. Our money is going towards clean energy, farm power and landfill gas capture. Nice! Check out the details HERE. Next month we’ll be purchasing our first air cleansing plant and getting the recycling program rolled out.

Cleaner- As a part of our Tag! You’re Green intiative we’re selecting a few of our clients to carry on the spirit of our program to their companies. The first client we’re “tagging” are Louis Moinet North America. They are a luxury watch brand with a really interesting history. It will be exciting to see what green programs they institute. The second client we’re “tagging” is Progressive Plumbing & Piping. They are a locally owned and operated commercial and residential plumber that has been in business since 1983. Given the concerns in our area regarding water conservation I think they’ll provide some excellent green tips for us all.

Leaner. Greener. Cleaner.

Filed under: Green Marketing, Social Media

We’re happy to announce that we’ve just launched a new program called Leaner. Greener. Cleaner. with the goal of decreasing our impact on the environment. This initiative has three segments:

1. Leaner- By emphasizing energy efficient practices and reducing our waste we hope to use less and save more.

2. Greener- For some of the mission critical practices we can’t reduce we will purchase carbon offsets to balance out the negative impact of our footprint. We’ve selected Terrapass as our partner to accomplish this.

3. Cleaner- The final piece of our initiative involves the creation of the “Tag! You’re Green Program.” We will be “tagging” several of our clients and requesting that they come up with their own set of Green programs. After completion of their own programs these clients will tag some of their business partners or customers. This insures that our efforts will have a viral aspect that is reminiscent of social media.

We’ll be updating you on the steps outlined above here on the blog. We hope to inspire an open dialog on environmentalism, Green marketing and the lessons we learn along the way. Want to see all the details? Check out our official release
